She wakes up with this piercing pain as usual and starts her daily routine by saying a prayer to her God reminding him to make a way for her to return home since she's scared of ending her life herself. She reluctantly drags herself out of bed and tries to face the world for just another day with a smile that never reaches her eyes and barely spreads across her lips. She wonders if she could be like that girl who lives on the other street whom everybody showers with love and attention, who walks gracefully like though there's some invisible wings attached to her being. She wonders everyday if she could be at least half as beautiful, tall and fair, or ain't that the standard of beauty in her society?? She dreads looking back at herself in the mirror and this makes her hang her head low daily and keeps her mouth shut. This kills her self esteem and wrecks her confidence and destroys her social ability. She wishes for a day when the whispers of the women when she walks by would stop, when the boys would start noticing her and the other girls would return her smile. Little does she know that the women whisper of how hardworking, disciplined and decent she is, the boys wonder if she doesn't see them and wish within themselves that they'd have her and the other girls? Well, they admire her ability to smile and her intelligence.
This girl suffers because she's been told twice or more times that she's not beautiful and these words have hurt her deeply and have swiftly raped her of every iota of believe and confidence that she has ever had and has placed her in a state of paranoia where she feels everyone is looking at her imperfections. It's difficult for her to regain her self-esteem and worth. So,we should consider the aftermath of words we use, especially concerning people's physical beauty because our comments go a longer way than we could imagine. The girlchild is a beautiful and delicate work of art and she ingests and digests everything she hears. The girlchild is a beautiful gift from God, so every girl,no matter the circumstance is beautiful.
